This summer, 120 Varna students will become "Cybermagicians". From 1 July to 23 August, children from the 5th and 6th grade from 17 schools will receive one-week "cyber" training. This educational project is implemented by Youth Activities Directorate at the Municipality of Varna and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". It is in pursuance of the Programme for Stimulating Activities and Expression of Schoolchildren in the Municipality and aims to develop their skills in the fields of informatics, mathematics, arts and above all the safe and secure use of the Internet environment. The future cybermagicians attended informatics and information technology clubs during the school year.
Of particular interest is the programme of the Cybermagicians, developed by the leading lecturers of the Department of Informatics at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
The children will learn to encrypt and decrypt secret messages, to analyze information hidden in pictures, texts, and sounds. They themselves will make encryption devices and machines. They will play with binary and hexadecimal codes and will explore colours with the digital microscope. At the end of the training, they will be able to create unbreakable passwords and transmit encrypted messages even without digital devices.
One of the most exciting days will be dedicated to the types of prints and the information they hide. The future cyberexperts will also learn how to read the emotions of the human face. They will talk about positive emotions and threats. They will discuss what personal data is and how to protect it. Twice a month over the next eight weeks, the parents will be able to get acquainted with the achievements of the cybermagicians.
