140 PRACTISING BULGARIAN ARCHITECTS JOINED THE FIRST TRAINING OF ITS KIND IN OUR COUNTRY FOR WORK ON THE GERMAN MARKET

140 practising Bulgarian architects took part in the first training of its kind in Bulgaria. The event started today at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". The Alliance for Adaptation of Bulgarian Architects to the German Market for Architectural Services project is co-financed by the Erasmus + programme of the European Union.

During the course, which will last until mid-August, architects will gain specific knowledge and skills on how to practise their profession in the countries of the European Union and in particular Germany. They will learn how to expand the Bulgarian market of architectural services to the countries of the Old Continent with better pay levels. The directives of the European Parliament enable every Bulgarian architect to practise his/her profession in the EU countries.

Today, the Faculty of Architecture at Varna Free University welcomed Georg Wintgen - President of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects. The specialised training is led by Eng. Stoyan Todorov - a graduate of the Technical University of Munich, a member of the Bavarian Chamber of Architects, the Union of Freelance Architects in Germany and the Union of German Engineers.

The largest European market for architectural services - Germany is experiencing a shortage of qualified architects. The project partners - Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", Institute for Digital Transformations Foundation and the architectural company from Munich ST Architekten GmbH found that it is necessary to conduct a regular qualification course to prepare Bulgarian architects and architecture students to meet the challenges of the profession in Germany with an emphasis on project phases that can be worked remotely.

The training was opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture – Assoc. Prof. Eng. Rositsa Petkova – Slipets, PhD.

Given the extremely high interest in the training, the Faculty of Architecture of Varna Free University will conduct a second training in the autumn of 2022.
