A list of 36 students of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" who wish to be involved as witnesses for the state authorities when there is an investigation in the pre-trial proceedings was provided to the management of the regional directorate of the Ministry of Interior - Varna. The members of the Club, under the leadership of the Dean of the Faculty of Law Prof. D.Sc. Yonko Kunchev, also wrote a Handbook for Witnesses of the State Authorities. It sets out the rights and obligations, the nature and the procedural rules for conducting the investigation. The initiative to create a Corps of witnesses for the state authorities belongs to the Criminology Club, which involves more than 160 young people who are interested in investigation and criminology.
Over 93% of the crimes are being investigated by the police, said during the meeting Commissioner Ivan Ivanov - head of the Investigation Department at the Ministry of Interior. He thanked the students for the initiative and added that the law enforcement agencies in Varna are already waiting for this list of witnesses for the state authorities.
"I have respect for students because they have a conscious interest in the profession, which the dynamic time has made much sought after. Therefore, it is very important for us to have a sustainable partnership with the Ministry of the Interior. We will be happy if it becomes stronger with research requests and experts from the practice being present in the educational process. The meeting of the demand and supply of knowledge and skills in the course of developing specialists brings higher education closer to the real needs ", said the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. D.Sc. Anna Nedyalkova, who is also an honorary member of the Criminology Club.
The meeting with the management of the Ministry of Interior is in the context of the good cooperation of Varna Free University with the Ministry of Interior. Many students who graduated from the Academy of the Ministry of Interior study at the university. A joint project for improvement and modernization of the educational infrastructure is being implemented by the Academy of the Ministry of Interior in partnership with VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", The University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy and the Medical Institute at the Ministry of Interior, funded by the Operational Programme "Science and Education for Smart Growth". The Academy of the Ministry of Interior and VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" will develop two new joint master's degree programmes, which open specialties needed on the labour market - "Protection of Human Rights" and "Counteraction to Cybercrime".
