90 EXPERTS FROM EIGHT COUNTRIES WILL BE TRAINED IN CIRCULAR ECONOMY PLATFORM

07 December 2022

90 experts from Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Turkey, Ukraine and Sweden will undergo a 6-month training on circular economy issues. The trainees use for the first time the specially created platform containing information on the leading for Europe topic. After graduating, the resources in the multilingual platform will be available for free.
The event was opened by George Kremlis, Honorary Director of the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission and patron of the Master's degree programme Circular Economy at Varna Free University. To the participants, he presented the new moments of the work of the European Commission in the field of the circular economy. The moderator was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eleonora Tankova - Dean of the Faculty of International Economics and Administration.

The training and development of the platform are part of the activities in the project Knowledge of the Circular Economy in the Black Sea Basin BSB-CIRCLECON - BSB 1021, financed by the Joint Operational Programme for Cross-Border Cooperation under the European Neighborhood Instrument "Black Sea Basin 2014-2020", under which VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is a leading organization, and partners are organizations from Greece, Turkey, Georgia and Ukraine.
The training, conducted in English, will continue until the end of May 2023. The programme includes six asynchronous online training modules related to the life cycle of raw materials, materials and products, waste management, circular economy business models, legal and institutional framework of the European Union, EU environmental policy and sustainable finance.
VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" is a leader in the circular economy education. In the university's academic profile, a full cycle of educational products on the issue is implemented - from courses for additional qualification, through a sustainably developing master's degree programme and its upgrade to an educational and scientific degree "doctor".

The Master's degree programme Circular Economy is held under the patronage of the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission. A few days ago, the second class of students - representatives of state and municipal administrations, non-governmental organizations and business - completed their studies there. "This major is the only one of its kind in the EU," emphasized George Kremlinis, who gave an extremely high assessment of the students' training in it.
The campaign for the admission of the third class of students in the Master's degree programme Circular Economy has started. It prepares managers and experts with professional interests and responsibilities in the field of ecology, efficient use of resources and sustainable development of regions. The application deadline is February 15, 2023.
