Students from the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities present their Eurocode graduation projects
51 Bachelor students and 18 Master students successfully presented and defended their graduation projects before a state examination jury. The future engineers presented their projects and received the applause of the audience and jury for their hard work and successful defence. The thesis defence for the Bachelor students majoring in Construction of Buildings and Facilities, Legal Expert Engineering, Building Constructions, Fire Safety and Population Protection and the Master students majoring in Building Constructions, Road Construction, Water Supply and Sewerage Systems and Installations and Fire Equipment and Automation, took place on 28th, 29th and 30th April, 2014 at the Faculty of Architecture of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”.
The graduates’ solutions to problems such as building constructions, water supply, sewerage and fire systems, road installations etc., demonstrated their engineering mindset and approach to putting into practice ideas, knowledge and skills to solve specific practical tasks in compliance with the current regulation in force.
The thesis projects by the students in Construction of Buildings and Facilities (BA) and Building Constructions (MA) have been entirely designed according to the European standards for design Eurocode, which have been in force in Bulgaria since the beginning of the year. Currently, this provides a competitive advantage for the Department’s alumni when applying for employment, and is a proof of the thorough training which the future construction engineers receive during their course of study at Varna Free University.
The state examination jury assessed not only the quality of the projects, but also the abilities of their authors to defend them convincingly.
The results explicitly show that the Department’s alumni are well-prepared for the challenges they are to face in the competitive labour market environment, and are a prerequisite for the successful career development of the young engineers of all branches of the industry.
