The acceptance of documents for the scholarship program "I will Learn and Succeed in Bulgaria" started at Varna Free University
For the sixth consecutive year the scholarship program at Varna Free University allows secondary-school graduates with excellent grades to participate in an essay contest on the topic "I will Learn and Succeed in Bulgaria." The first 20 of them can begin training in specialty of their choice with a scholarship covering 100% of the annual fee for the first year. Prerequisite for participation of the graduates in the program is their excellent results from their secondary-school education which has to be finished in Bulgaria during school year 2013/2014.
23 were the winners of the scholarship program of Varna Free University under the motto, "I will Learn and Succeed in Bulgaria" in 2013. Among them are students with excellent results of their secondary education from Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Ruse, Stara Zagora, Svilengrad, Dimitrovgrad, Targovishte. The total sum of the allocated one-year scholarships amounts to some BGN 70, 000. For the six years since the start of the program the number of students who have been awarded scholarships is approximately 100.
This year, the candidates will be able to choose among 21 Bachelor’s degree programs at the university. Among the most popular are Law, Construction of Buildings and Facilities with specializations in: Building Structures, Road Construction and Water Supply and Sewage; Psychology and Counteraction to Crime and Public Order Protectionwith specialization in Criminology. For the academic year 2014/15, distance learning generates great interest. The highest number of candidates applies for the distance learning form in Business Administration with specialization in Business Management in Tourism and International Business Management.
In the professional area of Economics the specialties which Varna Free University offers are International Economic RelationsandFinance and Accounting and in the professional area of Political Sciences students have the opportunity to study International Relations and Law.
Traditionally high is the interest in Informatics and Computer Sciences. A joint training program between the Department of Informatics at Varna Free University and the Software University will be launched this year. The training is implemented with cutting-edge technology, platforms and tools. Its main objective and mission is to train students to be true professionals in the software industry and to assist them in finding employment.
The Bachelor’s degree programs which generate great interest are the new specialties:
Psychology and Counselling, Design with specializations in Design for Architectural Environment, Lighting Design , Graphic Design and Web Design , Cinesitherapy, Performing Arts and Management and International Law. The scholarship program is part of the social mission of the university to support the efforts of young people to increase their competitiveness in the labour market and to succeed in Bulgaria.
