The summer scientific session of the Faculty of Law of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” began its work with a minute of silence in memory of the flood victims in the Varna district Asparuhovo. Three international conferences and three master classed are scheduled to take place during the forum dedicated to psychology, law and security:
13th Scientific Conference “Applied Psychology: Opportunities and Perspectives”, which will take place from 20th to the 22nd June, a scientific conference “Law between Tradition and Modernity”, taking place today, 20th June, and the scientific conference “Security Policies and Practices”, scheduled for 21st June. The three master classes include the following topics: “Russia in Global Politics”, “Psychology of Communities” and “Legal Expert Science”, and the lecturers include Prof. Andrey Zagorskiy, Prof. Douglas Perkins and Prof. Elena Rosinskaya, all among the most renowned experts in their respective areas.
The emphasis in the discussions is placed on the latest challenges facing psychology, law and security. The conference in Psychology is held for the thirteenth time, and is the only annual forum of Bulgarian psychologists. This large scale event is now deemed to be the most authoritative scientific forum of its kind in Bulgaria.
The three conferences offer possibilities for exchange of ideas and views on essential aspects of psychology, law and security, and reinforce the role of Varna Free University as a leading research centre.
“This is the first time in the history of the summer scientific session of the Faculty of Law, when three scientific conferences and three master classes are held. This is no accident. It is consistent with the main priorities Varna Free University has set, namely developing research and incorporating the results in the learning process”, said the Rector of Varna Free University “Chernorizats Hrabar” Prof. DSc Galya Gercheva in her welcoming speech. She added that the university is the only one in Bulgaria which had been awarded the HR Logo of the European Commission for excellence in research. “Our other priority, which is also reflected in today’s scientific session, is internationalization of research and learning through the establishment and expansion of our contacts with international partners”, added Prof. Gercheva.
Over 100 papers on topics pertaining to psychology, law and security will be presented during the summer scientific session, with scientists and experts from Bulgaria, Russia, Ukraine, Macedonia and the United States taking part.
