Varna Spaghetti Tower - the first national competition for creative skills organized at suggestion of the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities at the Faculty of Architecture at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was held this weekend in Varna.

It brought together secondary school students from the professional secondary schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy from Varna, Dobrich, Shumen, Plovdiv and Veliko Tarnovo and university students majoring in Architecture and Construction of Buildings and Facilitiesat Varna Free University in an attempt to provoke creative thinking in the design and building of towers made of ... spaghetti.
Varna Spaghetti Tower was a challenge for both the participants and the organizers, because in the context of the events in recent days in Varna, there were not many reasons for smiles and having fun. There was, however reason to work even more seriously towards sustainable development and education of the younger generation in this philosophy because no matter whether we build spaghetti towers or homes, it is important to make them safe and sustainable. According to the rules, the participants had to build towers that meet several criteria - height, stability, economy and attractiveness.
Team 1 from the Professional School of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy "Vasil Levski" in Varna took the first place. Second place was awarded to team 1 of the Professional School of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy "Arch. Kamen Petkov" in Plovdiv. The team of the Professional School of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Veliko Tarnovo ranked third.

The jury awarded two special prizes provided by the district representation of the Chamber of Builders in Bulgaria. The awards "Two Doses of Creativity" and "Economical Construction" were won by the teams of the Professional Schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Shumen and Dobrich.
Varna Spaghetti Tower was organized with the support of Planex OOD, Savimex EOOD,Dives Plast, Express-jour EOOD and the Chamber of the Builders in Bulgaria, Varna branch. Media partners of the event were BNT2, Black Sea Television and the Builder newspaper. The ambition of the department is the competition to become an annual event and to engage in its mission more young people.
