At a press conference, the organizers and partners presented the main initiatives and highlights in the program as well as the topics of the 10 practical lectures.
"In the European reference framework for digital competence, the ability to program is part of the digital competence of each modern man. I agree and interpret Douglas Rushkoff’s motto of "Program or Be Programmed" because I find the ability to program a necessary skill for everyone. Moreover, programming today has many different manifestations", said Assoc. Prof. Galina Momcheva, PhD, Head of the Department of Informatics at Varna Free University and lecturer in the week of programming. She will be a speaker on three topics: "Programming Languages - when, what, why?", "Development of mobile applications and entrepreneurship with App Inventor" and "Programming without computers."
"I would like to introduce the participants to the reasons why everyone can program and why everyone should be able to program, how enrolling one’s child in visual programming courses, we can understand what is the professional field where she/he could develop, whether a student is suitable to compete in informatics competitions, which part of software engineering a students should specialize in, when the right moment is and what the indicators are that suggest someone that he/she should change their job and pursue career in the IT business. "
"Project management will always be up-to-date, since it is not only widely adopted by leading organizations in all sectors and geographic boundaries, but mostly as a way to control costs and improve performance in contributing to the success of the entire organization. We use project management in so many areas of life without even realizing it… ", said Aleksandar Dimov - manager in the field of Information Technology and Finance and lecturer on the topic of "Project Management ".
"Through this initiative we want to lay the foundations in solving two problems - youth employment and lack of personnel for companies in the IT sector. The organizing of the "Europe Code Week" is a necessary first step towards solving these problems, but this is only the beginning of a process in which I hope both industry representatives and representatives of educational institutions will be involved.” said Venko Dobrev, manager of Beehive Co-working Space - organizer of the event.

The day of career (IT Job Fair), which will be held from 10:00 to 13:30 on 12 October (Sunday) is among the highlights in the program of the week. IT Job Fair is an event at which representatives of companies, organizations and universities meet schoolchildren and students interested in a career in the IT sector. Each company will have an information section, where a representative will introduce the attendees to the organization and the opportunities it offers. This type of event provides the implementation of the first contact with potential employers and conducting the so-called "first interview". This is the first ever themed event held in Varna.
