Varna Free University student took first place in the European Student Sports Games "EUROIJADA-2014"
Eleven countries, including Bulgaria participated in the European Student Sports Games "EUROIJADA-2014"held from 7 to 11 November, 2014 in Thessaloniki. Students of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" participated with the university’s representative teams in volleyball, basketball, football and table tennis.
The student Teodor Aleksandrov with his outstanding performance in the discipline in table tennis won the first place and a cup. Aleksandrov defeated his rivals and in the finals he did not give even a game to his opponent from Belgradewho plays table tennisprofessionallyinSpain.
In a close battle the volleyball team lost to the university champions of the Medical University in Belgrade the two games respectively with 23:25 and 24:26 points. Like the volleyball team, the football team of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" succumbed to another university from Serbia (1: 2) after rough play and unsportsmanlike conduct on the part of the Serbs.
The basketball team of Varna Free University fought to the end, but failed to beat the representatives of the hosts from Greece and dropped out of the fight for the allocation of the medals. Nevertheless Varna students gained experience and confidence for the upcoming competitions of the domestic sports calendar for the student championships in 2014/2015.
