scientist, lecturer and public figure with outstanding contribution to the development and recognition of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”
The Board of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”, the Board of Trustees, the lecturers, students and staff bid their final farewell to the man and the scientist who gave his wisdom and love to the young people, and who laid the foundations of a new and modern university.
Starting his career as the Head of Research and Development at the Varna Shipyard, Prof. Evgeni Vatev, PhD, Eng. has an outstanding background of a scientist and public figure – Head of the department “Metal Science and Metal Technology” at the Technical University Varna, three mandates as Dean of the Machine and Shipbuilding Faculty of the Technical University Varna, a long-term Director of the branch of the Institute of Metal Science and Metal Technology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, founder of the “Science and Business” Association, Honorary Professor of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” and the Technical University and one of the founders of Varna Free University.
The university’s history is marked by Prof. Vatev’s presence, his energy and innovative spirit. He was the Dean of the Faculty of Marine Sciences in 1993 and then Rector of the university for 4 years. A number of managerial positions follow – Dean of the Faculty of Marine and Construction Sciences, where Prof. Vatev laid the foundations of the present-day Faculty of Architecture and of one of the most successful majors “Construction of Buildings and Facilities”; Dean of the educational and research complex “Technics and Technologies”, “Architecture and Construction”, Scientific Secretary,
Advisor to the Rector.
With his death Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” lost one of its most worthy leaders and outstanding scientists.
A man of bright vision and memorable academic presence.
