The world famous Russian actor and film director Nikolai Burlyaev visited Varna Free University

    The world famous Russian actor, film director and President of the Slavic Art Forum "Zolotoy Vityaz", Nikolay Burlyaev visited Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". During his visit, Burlyaev met with students and faculty of the university to whom he talked about the work of the great Russian actress Zinaida Kiriyenko.

    Among the official guests of the event were Mrs Stanka Shopova, CEO of Kamchia Sanatorial and Health Resort and Chairperson of the Sustainable Development of Bulgaria Foundation, Mrs Galina Yaneva, coordinator of the Social Centre of Kamchia Sanatorial and Health Resort and journalists from TV channel "Soyuz "- G.A. Ledina and R.M. Nichik.     The Vice Rector of VFU, Prof. Pavel Pavlov, PhD welcomed the guests on behalf of the university and emphasized that the high level of training at the University is enhanced also by the care for the cultural and creative development of the students.

    The focus of the meeting was on the creative work of Zinaida Kiriyenko. Her artistic career was presented by Yozlem Sadkova, student at VFU, majoring in Master’s program Management of Projects Funded by the EU. Since early April at the Russian Centre of the University has been shown the film "The Destiny of the Man" after the novel of the same name by the Nobel Prize laureate in literature, Mihail Sholohov. The students chose and showed excerpts from films that most impressed them. There were many questions about the creation work on the film, the work with the great Russian director Sergey Bondarchuk, the military scenes in the film and what the actors were required to do. The meeting continued in an informal atmosphere with a lot of questions from the audience to the special guest Mr Nikolay Burlyaev.

    Nikolai Burlyaev has been honoured with the order of Prepodobnii Sergei Radonezhki - the highest award of the Russian Orthodox Church, and the order of Andrei Parvozvanni which is given for significant contribution to the Russian and world science, culture and politics. Burlyaev is a member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture of the Russian Orthodox Church. Academician of the International Slavonic Academy and President of the Cossack's cultureFundin Russia. Since 1992 he has been a Director General of the Russian Film cinema centre. Artistic director of the Fatherland film studio. He has starred in more than 50 films and has directed five. He is People's Artist of the Russian Federation.

    The famous actor talked about his parts in the cinema that have defined his creative destiny and shared with the students interesting moments from his acting career and the set.

    As a member of the Patriarchal Council for Culture of Russia Nikolai Petrovich turned to the audience with the call to preserve and popularize the best examples of culture that demonstrate high moral ideals and values. He read verses by the famous Russian poet and diplomat F. Tyutchev "To the Slavs" in confirmation of his position that the Slavs are close nations and must stay together. It was striking how much truth the poem bears about the present although it was written a century and a half ago.

    In conclusion, Nikolay Burlyaev expressed his pleasure and inspiration from the meeting with the VFU students, who showed not only good Russian, but also in-depth interest in Russian culture and cinema.     The meeting ended with the motto of the International cinema forum "Zolotoy Vityaz" - „За нравственные идеалы, за возвышение души человека!“(Formoralideals, forupliftment ofthe human soul)and the President's proposal to open a cinema club "Zolotoy Vityaz" at the Russian Centre of VFU. A donation of 30 famous films put the beginning of this initiative.

 

    Mr N. Burlyaev and Mrs Stanka Shopova were received by the President of the University Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D.Sc. Future joint projects were discussed at the meeting. Mr Burlyaev thanked Prof. A.Nedyalkova for the high level of the VFU students’ culture and that it is apparent that the university not only trains them but also educates them. Prof. A. Nedyalkova gave an interview for TV channel "Soyuz", which is seen in more than 120 countries worldwide. 

"Dear Professor Nedyalkova, I am very happy to meet you and the remarkable, spiritual students of your university. This meeting instilled hope and belief that the Slavic brotherhood between the Bulgarian and Russian people is unquenchable. We will resist. The victoryis for the forces of light. Yours, Nicholas Burlyaev",

wrote Mr Burlyaev  in the honorary guest book of Varna Free University.
