At the end of April, a team from the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities visited the Vocational School of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy “Arch. K. Petkov” in Plovdiv, where they held an intermediate round of the national creative skills competition „Varna Spaghetti Tower”. There were five participating teams from the school, each team consisting of three 11th- and 12th-grade students who demonstrated to their classmates, teachers and parents their creative skills to apply the learnt knowledge in solving practical tasks. With their inherent youthful enthusiasm and fighting spirit they rushed in close race. The jury members, Assoc. Prof. Milena Kichekova, PhD, Eng. – Head of the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities of the Faculty of Architecture at VFU, Assoc. Prof. Daria Mihaleva, PhD, Eng. – a lecturer at the Department, Velichka Dimovska, Eng. – Deputy Headmaster and Ivan Chilibinov, Eng. – a teacher at the school, assessed the creativity of the participants, and nominated the teams who won the first two places for participation in the final round of the second edition of the competition, which will take place between 18th and 20th June, at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”. All participants were awarded certificates which are equal to passed admission examinations for the majors offered by the Department, while the two winning teams received diplomas entitling them to preferential conditions of applying for studies at the university.
The team from the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities also took part in the 7th Vocational Education Panorama – Plovdiv 2015, organised by the Ministry of Education and Science and the Regional Inspectorate of Education, Plobdiv, with the support of business representatives and branch organisations. The Head of the Department, Assoc. Prof. Milena Kichekova, PhD, Eng., gave certificates to all participants, and awarded the winners of the first three places with diplomas.
By embarking on such initiatives, the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities once again proves its dedication to extending its relations with students of vocational schools of construction and architecture across the country.
