Professor Orlin Borisov will be presented with Varna award
Prof. Orlin Borisov, D.Sc. was nominated for an individual Varna award in the field of higher education in the category of Social Sciences for his monograph "International Legal Regime of the Black Sea". Prof. Borisov has been a lecturer at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" since 1998. He is among the leading lecturers in the courses of Public International Law, International Contract Law and International Legal Regime of the Black Sea. He has published 15 individual monographs and textbooks. Last year he issued two monographs - "International Legal Regime of the Black Sea" and "International Public Maritime Law", which received wide acclaim and were highly appreciated by lawyers working on the legal issues of the Black Sea region.
The award will be presented to Prof. Borisov at an official ceremony in the plenary hall of Varna Municipalitybuilding on 21 May (Thursday) at 13:00.
The idea of establishing Varna award originated in 1965. In 2002, an award in the sphere of science and higher education was established.
Varna awardin the field of science and higher education is presented in recognition for high professionalism and proven contribution to the organization and implementation of teaching and research to distinguished teachers, scientists and research teams. The award stimulates the development and achievements in science and higher education.
In 2009, Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was presented Varna award for art and culture, for its contribution to the promotion and development of culture and creative activity of the artists in Varna, for the support and implementation of creative projects in the field of culture and art.
Among Varna award winners are: the President of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D. Sc. - for the publications in Russian and Turkish of the scientific monograph "Globalization - Nothing Fatal" (2004); the Rector of the University, Prof. Galya Gercheva, D.Sc. - for the book "Communicative Anxiety - Personal and Contextual Changes," which is an in-depth study of personal and social changes in communicative anxiety as direct and mediator effects on basic personality characteristics and social performance are deduced (2010); research team led by Prof. Pavel Pavlov, PhD for his publications "Fundamentals of Public Administration" and "Strategic Management in the Public Sector" (2006); Prof. Valeri Stoyanov, PhD - for the book "Mental Stress in the Organization.Research SystemModel" (2012); Prof. Peter Hristov, PhD for his book "Metatheory of Risk. Paradigms and Approaches", which is an in-depth study - a new methodology for analysis and control of risk in the field of the notion of national security, the issue of public control over special services, the models for structuring the security services in the democratic state (2011); Prof. Stefan Terziev, PhD, Eng – for the development and implementation of the new trend in the field of architectural and artistic lighting in his book "Architectural Lighting" (2010); Prof. Petar Angelov - for lifetime achievement, staging, direction and implementation of socially significant productions: "50 Years since the First Human Spaceflight" and the unique musical-dramatic dance performance "De Gidi, Red Wine" (Where are you, Red Wine?) (2012 );Prof. Boyan Stankov, D.Sc. for his contribution to conducting a representative study of the victims of crime in Varna in 2004 and for his the scientific contribution in the field of victimology and for the promoting and strengthening the authority of the Bulgarian justice system (2005); Prof. Dimitar Filipov, D.Sc. for his books "Theory of Social Life" and "Era of Strategies and Social Transformations" (2007); Prof. Evgeni Vatev, PhD, Eng - initiator and organizer of the project on launching the specialty of Architecture at Varna Free University (2003);Prof. Ivan Nikiforov, D.Sc., Arch for his book "History of Urban Development" (2009); a scientific team of the Department of Architecture and Urbanism at the Faculty of Architecture at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" headed by Prof. Todor Bulev, PhD,Arch for his research project on Comprehensive Development Scheme for Sustainable Recreation and Landscape of the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast with the participation of 10 students (2013); Prof. Rositsa Nikiforova, PhD, Arch - for setting a new trend in architecture - architectural design and the book entitled "Design in Architectural Environment" (2011); Prof. Lyuben Sivrev, PhD, Eng. – for his achievements in research and teaching and as the author of a series of monographs in the field of public service in the industrial enterprises and territories (2014); a project team headed by Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D.Sc. - President of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" and captain I rank Prof. Boyan Mednikarov, D.Sc. - Head of the Naval Academy "Nikola Vaptsarov" for the development and implementation of the first in Bulgaria Association of International Economics, Business and Politics" (2014);
