Fourth champion title for Varna Free University team in the basketball amateur league
The Varna Free University basketball team proved to be an absolute leader in the “Black Sea” basketball amateur league, having won its fourth edition.
This was probably the most difficult title for Margarita Gecheva’s players, after they had to play one overtime against Showtime’s team. The game offered high quality basketball and went through a number of twists, with the four regular quarters coming to an 85:85 draw. In the extra 5 minutes, however, the Varna Free University students were better, and won the trophy with a final score 101:97. For the winning team Simeon Savov scored 28 points and Ganchev made a “double-double” – 29 points and 13 rebounds. For Showtime, Anton Dikov took the lead with 34 points and 8 assists, and Mihailov added 17 points.
The logical choice for the best coach was Margarita Gecheva from VFU. The fair play prize went to the Unstoppable (Dobrich). The top scorer for the “Black Sea” basketball amateur league this year is Anton Dikov from Showtime. The most valuable player of the league is again Simeon Savov from the VFU champion team.
