Over 60% of the Varna Free University students polled feel optimally prepared careerwise, due to the education they have obtained. This has become evident from the data provided by the most popular European career and education survey Trendence Graduate Barometer, which is done by Varna Free University for a fourth year in a row.

The survey includes questions about the satisfaction levels of students as to their training and career development expectations. It was conducted in 24 European states, and included over 280 000 students. The survey was conducted between October 2014 and February 2015.

It looks into the opinions of students across Europe, and studies the similarities and differences between the countries.

The students polled have given some of the highest assessments to their lecturers’ work, to the practical orientation of their training, the international relations in their education, the quality of the technical infrastructure and the library stock of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.

Among the weak points, according to the respondents, are the students’ active participation in the learning process and the remoteness of the campus from the city.

Nearly 91% of the students polled rate the professional qualities and skills acquired during their training as very good.

  1. “Would you recommend your university to others?”.

A little over 70% of the respondents prefer specializing in a concrete professional area to acquiring general skills. For over 77% it is important to start a job right after their graduation. The other 23% prefer to take part in work placement and internship programmes.

According to the young people, the main factors which make an employer attractive are qualification enhancement and personal development opportunities, good career prospects, a good management style, morale and good work-life balance. 84.2% of the respondents use social media as main information channels for finding potential employers.

The industries given priority by the students from Varna Free University are the IT sector, the banking and financial services sector, the manufacturing of fast moving consumer goods etc.

Over 60% of the students indicate visiting lecturers as the most appealing marketing activities at the university. The other most preferred activities are the seminars, the internship programmes, the accessibility to events organized by other institutions and the joint research projects with partnering business enterprises.

Over 77% of the respondents have done internships and work placements directly related to their major during the course of training. 81% of the students say that their academic achievements are excellent or over the average level.
