The ranking was made by Svetlin Nakov, PhD. For those who do not know him, Nakov has inspired thousands of young people to go into technology and programming. He is currently a head of the Software University (SoftUni) which provides quality higher education, profession and work for software engineers. SoftUni works together with Varna Free University under a joint program for Informatics and Computer Science specialty for the educational and qualification Bachelor’s degree.

That is what Svetlin Nakov says in his blog: Because I am often asked to give advice on where to study higher education in programming, so I decided to organize a seminar on the topic "Where should I study programming - choice of university." My ranking of the Bulgarian IT universities is as follows (as of September 2015): Ranking of the universities for programmers and IT. Where should I study programming, software engineering, web design, information systems, computer science and informatics

The ranking for the profession "software engineer" was made by Svetlin Nakov, PhD based on the following criteria: • Curriculum and quality of educational content - whether what is studied is adequate for the labour market (whether you are trained to start work or you study dull theory) • Quality of the lecturers - whether the lecturers are good speakers who motivate, stir students’ enthusiasm and explain well and simultaneously understand in-depth their teaching material
