VARNA SPAGHETTI ENGINEERING National Competition - the most successful format for creativity and creative thinking of the new generation of engineers and architects.

    Varna Spaghetti Engineering National Competition for the third time proved to be the most successful format for provoking the non-standard thinking and imagination of the young people studying in the professional area of Architecture, Construction and Geodesy. As organizer and host of this exclusive competition filled with innovative spirit, the Department of Construction of Buildings and Facilities at Varna Free University managed to gather together again and unite the efforts of students and professionals to create unique structures of ... spaghetti.

    Secondary school students from six professional schools of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy from Sofia, Varna, Burgas, Shumen, Kardzhali and Pazardzhik, divided into 11 teams competed to build the highest and most resistant to dynamic loads building structure. Students majoring in Construction of Buildings and Facilities and Architecture were included to consult and assist each team.

 

 

    The competition was opened by Prof. Valeri Stoyanov, PhD - Vice-Rector for Educational Affairs of Varna Free University "Chernorizetz Hrabur", who wished good luck to the participants and expressed the support of the university management in the search of new forms of professional development of the young people.   In his address to the participants, the chief architect of the city, architect. Viktor Buzev, as a member of the jury of all editions of the competition over the years, said that he sees potential this competition to grow on an international scale.

 

 

    For the first time in this format of the competition, a nomination of the audience for "The Most Attractive Rotating Spaghetti Structure" was announced.  Four teams of students majoring in Architecture and Construction of Buildings and Facilities and one team of students from Kazakhstan, participants in the mobility program "Erasmus +" competed for it. The inclusion for the first time of foreign students in the competition is a step towards its promotion abroad and opens new horizons for its development.
