Undergraduate and postgraduate programs of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” in Kyustendil

Training in undergraduate and postgraduate programs of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” was officially launched in the town of Kyustendil. Varna Free University is the first university that trains students in Kyustendil in a partnership with the International Slavic Education Center. This distance learning module is realized in accordance with the requirements of today’s dynamic environment.

The official ceremony was attended by Prof. Pavel Pavlov, PhD - Vice-Rector for Research of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”, the Governor of Kyustendil - Victor Yanev, the Deputy Mayor Svetoslav Vassilev, the Chairman of the City Council - Ivan Andonov, the Director of Kyustendil Job Center - Juliana Hadjieva, the Director of the Regional Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior Commissioner Elian Stambolijski, the Head of Regional Police Department Rosen Raychev and the famous cultural historian Prof. Cyril Poromanski.

The ceremony was opened by Assoc. Prof. Boyko Sokolowski - Manager of the International Slavic Education Center. “We are launching training in the first university in Kyustendil. This is our university which has led the way to Kyustendil. We have been working with the postgraduate programmes of Varna Free University for several years now. I am glad that this year we have started training in undergraduate programmes too. This means that we are laying the foundations for a serious education, which I believe is much needed in Kyustendil, and which has its future here,” said Assoc. Prof. Boyko Sokolowski.

In his opening speech the Governor of Kyustendil Victor Yanev said: “I am glad that today I am part of your celebration and have the opportunity to congratulate you on this successful start despite the negative events taking place at international and national levels in recent weeks. Establishing a university in Kyustendil was long expected, therefore you are the first to launch it and ensure its success. You should be assured that you have my full support. I would like to thank all who contributed their effort to the opening of VFU in the town of Kyustendil.” After his address he gave students their student books and wished success to each of them.

75 students altogether, of different ages, from Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia and Greece started their training in the distance learning module of the undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
