The folk ensemble at the Academic Dance Theatre - awarded with an honorary diploma at the First National Student Folklore Festival
The folk ensemble at the Academic Dance Theatre of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was awarded an honorary diploma at the First National Student Folklore Festival entitled Meetings of Friendship, which took place on 5 and 6 December in Varna. The first edition of the festival involved the ensembles and dance troupes of the Medical University – Varna, Technical University – Varna, Technical University - Sofia, University of Food Technologies - Plovdiv, Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Arts - Plovdiv, South-West University - Blagoevgrad, the University of Forestry - Sofia and Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar ".
The ambition of the organizers is the folkloric fiesta to be not only a stage for students, but also to create an environment for lasting artistic contacts aiming at preserving the Bulgarian cultural identity and inclusion of the younger generation in the folk dance. The folklore ensemble of VFU did not betray its name and showed academic and high style in their performances. Students majoring in Choreography presented examples of dance of the Bulgarian folk dance art – "Dances of Shumen Region", "A Haiduk and a Lassie", " Bachelors of Kukorevo" and "Kamchia Dance", choreography of Prof. Peter Angelov.
"We are nobly envious that Varna Free University has such a professional troupe," said the participants in the festival. Definitions such as "style", "aesthetics", "outstanding repertoire", "precision" predominated among the comments ... The positive assessments of the audience are the result of the daily work of Asst. Prof. Ivaylo Ivanov, Assoc. Prof. Maria Kardzhieva and of course the artistic leader – the Director of the Academic Dance Theatre "Chernorizets Hrabar", Prof. Peter Angelov.
