A course in support of sustainable and intelligent development of Bulgarian municipalities
A course for further training designed for mayors and representatives of municipal and regional administrations from the Northeastern region - "Tools for Municipal Management" will be held from May 11th to May 12th, 2017 at Laguna Garden Hotel, Albena resort. The event is organized by Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" and the Institute for Integrated Management of the Municipalities. It will be attended by mayors and representatives of municipal and regional administrations from the districts of Dobrich and Silistra.
The Institute for Integrated Management of the Municipalities was established at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" at the end of October 2016. Its mission is to promote sustainable and intelligent development of the municipalities, preparing personnel for their management and developing research, entrepreneurship and innovations in accordance with the concept of "Smart City".
The Institute will provide specialized training for staff related to the management of municipalities. A part of its activities is the course for further training designed for mayors, deputy mayors, presidents of municipal councils and municipal officials in the South Central Region.
The forum will be opened by the Rector of Varna Free University, Prof. Galya Gercheva, D.Sc. It will be attended by the regional governor of Dobrich region, Ms Detelina Nikolova, who will deliver a lecture on "The Committee of the Regions - a mechanism for European regional development policy".
The topics of the training are related to the integrated municipal management. The programme includes three panels:
- Challenges to integrated municipal management moderated by Corr. Mem. Prof. Arch. Atanas Kovachev, D.Sc., Director of the Institute for Integrated Management of the Municipalities. Lecturers in the panel will be Irena Nikolova - Expert from the Council of Ministers and Dr. Peter Harold, CEO of HYPO NOE GRUPPE, Austria, the Dobrich Regional Governor Ms. Detelina Nikolova and Petko Dobrev - the recent District Governor of Silistra region.
- Components of the integrated municipal managementmoderated by Corr. Mem. Prof. Arch. Atanas Kovachev, Ms. Nina Stancheva, mayor of Kavarna municipality and Arch. Petar Dikov.
- New tools to support municipal management moderated by Assoc. Prof. Georgi Kalaglarski, PhD, lecturer at Varna Free University. Lecturers in the panel will be Arch. Belin Mollov on the topic "European Territorial Cooperation" and Assoc. Prof. Galina Momcheva, PhD, Head of the Department of Informatics and Economics at VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”, who will present tools for online positioning of municipalities and businesses.
