Interdepartmental working group for the development of a draft of the updated National Security Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria was created by order № P-128 of the Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on 6 July, 2017. According to the order, the Center for the Prevention and Counteraction to Corruption and Organized Crime performs the functions of a secretariat of the Interdepartmental Working Group and supports its work.
The project is intended for public discussion with representatives of the expert community and academic circles and is available on the Internet at http://borkor.government.bg/bg/page/489. In Varna, the expert public discussion about the draft of the updated National Security Strategy is organized and conducted by Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" in partnership with Nikola Vaptsarov Naval Academy.
The discussion will take place on 16 October, 2017, at 14:00, in Hall 3 of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar".
The presentation of the updated document and public discussion will be led by Georgi Krastev, PhD - advisor in the Prime Minister's Political Cabinet and Secretary of the Security Council.
The aim of the discussion is to present the new moments in the strategy, the expert opinions and proposals of the participants - representatives of district and municipal administration, territorial structures of the Ministry of Interior and SANS, academic circles, civil society.
In June 2010, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" hosted the first public discussion of the draft of the current National Security Strategy of the Republic of Bulgaria with the participation of Assoc. Prof. Rumen Milanov, PhD and Georgi Krastev, PhD. The Strategy was adopted by the National Assembly’s decision on 8 March, 2011 and contains some substantial proposals of the academic community of the university.
