Students of Varna Free University are participating in the World Festival of Youth and Students in Sochi
The 19th World Festival of Youth and Students is being held from 14 to 22 October 2017 in Sochi. It involves 20,000 young professionals from different spheres aged 18 to 35 from more than 180 countries. More than 120,000 young people from around the world have submitted applications to participate in the festival.
The spectacular youth forum began with a parade-carnival in Moscow on 14 October. In the first three days of the festival, 2,000 foreign participants visited the Russian regions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
Varna Free University is presented at the forum by six students nominated by the Russkiy Mir Foundation in 2016 for their participation in the European festivals of the students studying the Russian language and for won prizes for the teams of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" in 2015 and 2016. These are Kristina Hristova (Faculty of Architecture), Hristo Rusev (Faculty of International Economics and Administration), Aleksandar Ivanov (Faculty of Law), Lyalya Ignatchenko (Faculty of International Economics and Administration), Veronika Revenko (Faculty of International Economics and Administration), Petranka Gelova (Faculty of Law) and the assistant at the Russian Center of the university Miglena Dimitrova.
The festival was held twice in Russia in 1957 and 1985. The purpose of the event is to consolidate the world's youth community, strengthen international ties and stimulate intercultural communication. Within the framework of the festival a study will be made of the vision of the future of young people from different countries. The forum will seek answers to the challenges which a whole generation faces. The discussion program is subordinated to 17 sustainable development goals formulated by the United Nations.
The official opening ceremony of the 19th World Festival of Youth and Students was also attended by the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Some of the most popular names of the Russian show business such as Dima Bilan, Alexander Panayotov, Sergey Lazarev, Polina Gagarina and One Republic also appeared on stage.
