140 graduates of the Class of 2017 of the Smolyan Branch of Varna Free University received their diplomas at a solemn ceremony.

The diplomas were awarded personally by the Vice President of the University Yani Yanev and the Mayor of Smolyan Municipality Nikolay Melemov.

The Vice President of the University Mr Yanev congratulated the graduates and the management of the Smolyan Branch for the successful graduation of the Class of 2017 on behalf of the President of VFU Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D.Sc. and the Rector Prof. Galya Gercheva D.Sc.

He expressed his belief that the graduates of this class would also prove themselves as knowledgeable and capable professionals because their lecturers gave them the necessary knowledge and practical skills. In conclusion, he wished, "Keep the excitement of today, be successful and forward looking to your high goals!"
With tribute to the memory of Assoc. Prof. Hristo Ginevski, the Vice President of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" Yani Yanev announced that his work would be continued and that the position of editor-in-chief of the "Rodopi" magazine will be taken by Prof. Nikolay Ovcharov, and the director of RHM "Stoyu Shishkov" – Smolyan, Tanya Mareva will join the editorial board.
The Deputy Governor Andriyan Petrov congratulated on behalf of the governor Nedyalko Slavov and on his behalf the graduates of the Class of 2017 of the Smolyan Branch at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" for their successful graduation. "Dear graduates, keep your wonderful memories of the student years in your life library, the memories of the wonderful Rhodope Mountains – in the winter - white, in the spring and summer - green, in the autumn - red, the colours of the most beautiful tricolour – ours, the Bulgarian one! Wherever the roads of the broader world, of which we are already decent citizens, take you, do not forget your Bulgarian roots, do not forget the Rhodope Mountains! Do not forget that you have to return here to continue to be one of the most glorious peoples - the Bulgarian ones. Good luck!"
Petrov expressed his gratitude to the management of the Smolyan Branch for the efforts and the desire to educate their students and for their contribution to the development of the higher education in the region.
The guests and graduates attending the 2017 graduation ceremony were also congratulated by the MEP Vladimir Uruchev, the Director of the branch Anelia Parzhanova, PhD, representatives of the Smolyan Region, mayors, representatives of state institutions and the academicians.
