Students from Varna Free University took part in the 7th International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Training in the Mastery of Translation"

Students from Varna Free University took part in the 7th International Scientific and Practical Seminar "Training in the Mastery of Translation" organized by the Center for Russian Language and Culture and the Russian Language and Literature Department at Plovdiv University "Paisii Hilendarski", with the support of the Russkiy MirFoundation.

 

 

   Participants from 12 universities took part in the seminar: Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski”, University of Veliko Tarnovo"St. St. Cyril and Methodius ", Plovdiv University “Paisii Hilendarski”, Democritus University of Thrace and the Institute for Balkan Studies (Greece), Belgrade University (Serbia), Milan University (Italy), Samtskhe-Javakheti State University (Georgia), Krakow Pedagogical University (Poland), Istanbul Aydin University (Turkey) and students studying Bulgarian Language and Literature  from the Moscow State University "M. V. Lomonosov ".

 

 Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" was presented by the students Veronika Revenko, a student at Business Administration and Management, Lyalya Ignatchenko from Business Administration and Management, Nikita Zubiyashvili from Informatics, Nikita Potapov from International Relations and Law and their instructor Miglena Dimitrova.

 

   Guests at the official opening were the Director of National Publishing House for Education and Science "Az-Buki" at the Ministry of Education and Science Nadya Kantareva-Baruch, who congratulated the participants and said that every students’ initiative would have a place on the pages of the “Az-Buki” editions and that she awaits their publications impatiently. On behalf of the Russian Cultural and Information Center, Mr. Kiril Voronkov said that it is apleasure to see young people who study and love Russian language. He wished all young future translators a fruitful job, success and to continue to develop themselves in their professional field.

 

      Each team presented their university. VFU students had prepared a special video clip with music in which they presented Varna and their university and earned the applause of the other participants. There was a sweet accent in the presentation, the idea of ​​the students was to give "Varna" waffles with a playful message about the sweet student’s life at VFU.

 

   

 During the three days of the seminar the students had the pleasure to absorb knowledge and skills from lecturers such as Prof. Valeriy Efremov from St. Petersburg, Prof. D Sc. Gregoriy Tokarev from Tula and Oksana Bezhenarfrom Milan. Presentersat the practical translation were Mariana Konova from Sofia University and Ilonka Georgieva from the University of Plovdiv. Moderator of the round table "Переводчиками не рождаются - ими становятся" was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Juliana Chakarova, Head of the Russian Language and Literature Department and of the Master Programs in Translation and Intercultural Communication and Translation for the European Institutions.

 

For the students from Varna Free University this Seminar was very useful as it revealed new and interesting for them sides of the Russian language through the skill of the good translation. Last but not least, it was the opportunity to get acquainted with students from other universities and countries, to make friends and acquaintances.

 For the seventh consecutive year, students of VFU have been participating in the translation seminar and present our university with pride. All students received certificates of participation.
