14 teams took part in the fifth national competition VARNA SPAGHETTI ENGENEERING 2017. 9 of them were from the professional high schools of architecture, construction and geodesy from the country, and in 5 of the teams there were students in architecture and construction from Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".

Each of the teams had at disposal 400 grams of spaghetti to use their imagination and dreams and realize their engineering ideas in the construction of steady spaghetti towers and bridges. The students' teams had the task to build a facility made of spaghetti with rotating parts, which to meet four criteria: complexity, height, economy and dynamic loads, with the highest weight this year being the first criterion. All student teams used creative solutions to achieve the spinning of part of their facility using the materials allowed by the competition regulation. The results were impressive! 7 steady and 2 fallen towers that did not meet the seismic impact they were subjected to by the jury.

During the practical module the teams of students used their knowledge and ingenuity in building attractive bridges with removable parts of spaghetti. The chairman of the jury, made up of specialists in the construction industry in the city, was the chief architect of the Municipality of Varna arch. Victor Buzev.

The steadiest spaghetti facility, which met all the requirements, was built by team Blackwindow" from the "Vasil Levski" Vocational School in Building, Architecture and Geodesy (VSCAG) - Varna.
