A Diploma of Higher Education and a Quota for the World Championship in Abu Dhabi for the Golden Girl Polina Galinova

18 June 2025

Today, the rector of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" Prof. Dr. Petar Hristov awarded a special diploma to the World Kickboxing Champion Polina Galinova. After four years, filled with determination, discipline, academic knowledge and many international sports awards, Polly is now officially a licensed psychologist.

She was unable to attend the official ceremony of the class of 2024 , because at that time she was in Budapest, where she participated in the Kickboxing World Cup. There she became second in the world and won a silver medal in the women's category, K-1 style, up to 56 kg. With this achievement, Polina won a quota for participation in the World Championship for men and women in Abu Dhabi, which will be held from November 21st to 30th, 2025.

Today, Polina received her diploma in the presence of the most important people - her strong, champion family. Polly's coach is her father, Galin Metodiev.

When she entered Varna Free University four years ago, Polina said that she chose to study Psychology because she wanted to better understand the behavior of her rivals in the ring. During her studies, she won serious awards for our university, including gold medals at the National Student Universiade and the National Student Championship. Today, she is an even more conscious fighter. She is a competitor of the Shumen Fortress club, brought up in a spirit of respect, strategy and discipline. She is in the national kickboxing team but also runs her own children's sports club. Polina Galinova is a two-time world champion for juniors and cadets, holder of European and Balkan awards, champion of Bulgaria, winner of the European Cup in Plovdiv and gold medalist of the National Universiade.

After a short break, Poly will begin preparations for the upcoming World Championship in Abu Dhabi. And after that, she is considering continuing her education at Varna Free University in a master's degree programme.
