06 June 2024
Meet Kiko Miyashita - a Japanese language teacher at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".
Kiko is 27 years old and comes from Nagasaki, Japan. She has been training students, lecturers and university staff for six months now. She is soon leaving for Poland, where she will continue with her teaching activities but before that she will explore Europe.
'Studying Japanese at university includes grammar and developing speaking and listening skills. Not only Japanese language is studied in the course, but also the culture of Japan', says Kiko. During the lessons we also discuss the specific values of the Japanese people, which are not money, but the attitude towards working overtime. We also study calligraphy and games.
Japanese language has been taught for six years at Varna Free University. The Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification develops its language palette with studies in English and Portuguese. Studying foreign languages increases the competitiveness of graduates of our university and gives them the opportunity to include in their professional portfolio the command of two or three languages, including some rare ones.
