Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" hosted the traditional Reading Marathon on April 23rd - the World Book and Copyright Day. Тhe event was again organized by the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification and the University Library.
This year, the Reading Day was dedicated to the notable Varna poet, teacher and public figure Atanas Stoev.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dimitar Marinov spoke about the life and work of Atanas Stoev. Selected moments from the documentary about the notable Varna author, broadcast in 2024 on BNT, under the title "The Teacher Atanas Stoev - The Poetic Magician", were presented.
Special guests of the celebration were the poet's wife - Yuliana Stoeva, as well as his daughter - Bilyana Stoeva, who is a talented actress and a remarkable person in the cultural life of the city of Varna. They shared their memories of different moments from the life and creative path of the famous literary figure Atanas Stoev in an exciting and touching way. In front of the academic audience at the University Library, Bliyana Stoeva emotionally and memorably presented two poems written by her father.
Foreign and Bulgarian students, lecturers and employees of Varna Free University took part in the Reading Marathon.
They performed wonderful works by world-famous authors in Bulgarian, Russian, English, French, Ukrainian, Portuguese, Italian and Romanian.
For the second year in a row, within the framework of the solemn celebration of the World Book and Copyright Day, the Department of Foreign Language Teaching and Postgraduate Qualification organized and held a competition among students for the translation of literary texts from English and Russian into Bulgarian.
