The 142nd anniversary of the outbreak of the April Uprising was celebrated today at the monument of Georgi Benkovski in the Seaside Garden of Varna.
The solemn ceremony was attended by the mayor of the city Ivan Portnih, the regional governor Stoyan Pasev, the commander of the Navy rear admiral Mitko Petev, the chairman of the Municipal Council Todor Balabanov, district mayors, representatives of the Ministry of Interior, the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Varna, citizens and guests of the city.
A representative group of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" also took part in the ritual of laying wreaths and flowers.
A requiescatfor all the warriors that lost their lives with the thirst for the liberation of Bulgaria, served the coadjutorof the Varna and Veliki Preslav bishopric Dimitar Stoev.
With sinking to their knees and a minute of silence, the attendees paid tribute to the dead.
The anthem of the Republic of Bulgaria, performed by the representative brass band of the Naval Forces, sounded in the Seaside Garden.
