ACADEMIC HAPPENING COMBINES MEDIA, ARTS AND ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE

The academic happening Media, Arts, Artificial Intelligence will gather on 5 September 2026 at the International House of Journalists in Varna, teachers, researchers, artists and representatives of the media community. The forum focuses on the impact of artificial intelligence on literature, television, visual arts, architecture and media.

The event continues the academic and creative line of the permanent forum The Art of Communication, created by the lecturer Assoc. Prof. Georgi Kalaglarski, PhD. The forum connects modern communication processes with education, culture and technological development. The organizers are the Varna Society of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists and the Faculty of Social, Economic and Computer Sciences of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".

The discussions will feature the literary critic, philosopher and researcher of Bulgarian literary history Panko Anchev with the topic Literature and Artificial Intelligence and Prof. Margarita Pesheva, PhD – researcher and lecturer in the field of mass communications, television, digital media and media regulation, who will present the topic Artificial Intelligence and Television.
The relationship between technologies and creative processes will be examined by Prof. Stefan Serezliev, PhD – an expert with many years of experience in visual arts, branding and communications management, as well as Assoc. Prof. Arch. Stancho Vekov, PhD – a long-time lecturer at Varna Free University. Their topics are Artificial Intelligence and Visual Arts and Artificial Intelligence and Architecture.
An international dimension to the forum will be provided by Dr. Arthur Cordon – one of the pioneers in the practical application of artificial intelligence in industry, and Assoc. Prof. Hwang Kang – a lecturer in Korean language, literature, culture and history. Dr. Cordon will examine the opportunities and challenges facing the media in the context of powerful artificial intelligence, and Assoc. Prof. Kang will present the development of artificial
intelligence and arts in South Korea.

Special guests will be the Chairperson of the Board of the Union of Bulgarian Journalists Snezhana Todorova, the writer, literary critic, publisher and public figure Acad. Ivan Granitski and the Director of the National Film Centre Petar Todorov.

The happening will also present the opportunities for training in the master's programmes in Cultural Tourism Management and Advertising and Public Relations in Business Management of Varna Free University.

The master's programme in Cultural Tourism Management offers an interdisciplinary look at cultural heritage and its potential for the sustainable development of tourism. The training develops skills for creating and managing tourism products and includes academic happenings, workshops with experts from Europe and Asia and photo safaris with camera masters.
The programme in Advertising and Public Relations in Business Management prepares specialists with strategic thinking and practical skills in corporate communications, advertising, marketing, reputation management and communication in crisis situations. Students master modern approaches to building trust, developing organizational image and effective interaction with different audiences.

The students in bachelor's, master's and doctoral programmes of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", as well as journalists, participate free of charge. Registration continues until 31 August 2026 via the online form.
