Architecture graduates presented their ideas in the programme Culture Line on BNT 2

17 Април 2025
On the eve of the International Day for the Preservation of Cultural and Historical Heritage – April 18th, the architecture graduates from VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” Desislava Georgieva and Ralitsa Chobanova, together with their scientific supervisor Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zhechka Ilieva, were guests in the programme “Culture Line” on BNT 2.

The young architects, who recently successfully defended their diploma projects, shared their experience at the university, their preparation and the path to professional realization. In the conversation with the host Tatyana Kisyova, they emphasized the importance of the academic environment, the practical focus of the training and the opportunities that Varna Free University provides to its students.

“The university gave us a solid foundation to stand on. It is an environment in which we were able to grow and improve ourselves, and we are ready for the professional world,” shared arch. Ralitsa Chobanova.

Desislava Georgieva and Ralitsa Chobanova worked on projects for the preservation and transformation of buildings of cultural and historical value for Varna. Both students were awarded excellent grades by the state examination committee.

Desislava Georgieva presented a project for the restoration and conservation of one of the emblematic but crumbling buildings in the heart of the city — the house of Ivan Drasov at 51 Preslav Street. The building was designed in 1894, when Drasov was a district governor. Desi proposed a new function for it, but based on its past — a home for children with special needs.
Ralitsa Chobanova presented a project for the restoration of the partially destroyed barracks building on 8th Primorski Regiment Blvd., where today, in the only preserved part of it, the Vocational High School of Textiles and Fashion Design is housed. Her project “Forum Resonance — Echoes of the Past, Voices of the Future” proposes the transformation of the barracks complex into a youth cultural center — a space for debates, exhibitions, workshops and education — a place that is missing in Varna.

The interview on Culture Line programme on BNT 2 with the graduates and Assoc. Prof. Ilieva starts in the 4th minute of the video and can be watched here ►
