ARCHITECTURE STUDENTS PRESENTED IDEAS FOR RECREATIONAL SPACES IN THE BLUE SUMMER COMPETITION

Fifth-year architecture students at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” were honoured for their designs in the Blue Summer competition, dedicated to the development of conceptual solutions for the design of common recreational spaces.
The competition was organised by assignment of Ivaylo Dushev and implemented as a semester assignment in the discipline Design in Architectural Environment supervised by Assoc. Prof. Arch. Irena Spiridonova, PhD.
First prize went to Kristina Stateva. She received three nights for two in Blue Summer cottages and the opportunity to participate in a chosen experience – scuba diving or canoeing.
Second prize went to the joint design of Ana Yanakieva and Arina Zhambovskaya. The award includes two nights for two in the Blue Summer cottages and one experience of their choice – scuba diving or canoeing.
Third prize went to Dimitar Ivanov, who was awarded one night for two in the Blue Summer cottages and participation in one of the two proposed experiences.
Additional nominations and awards were given to the projects of Ailin Kadirova and Reni Yaneva for the high quality, creativity and professional level of the presented developments.
The competition proposals were evaluated by a four-member jury consisting of Ivaylo Dushev – assignor, Assoc. Prof. Arch. Irena Spiridonova, PhD, Arch. Vasil Kulikov – Chief Architect of the Asparuhovo district, and the sculptor Yordan Narliev.
The jury examined the projects according to their functionality, design, sustainability, efficiency and quality of their presentation.
The practical task gave the students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills in working on a real assignment and to present original concepts for a contemporary and attractive architectural environment.
