AT THE INVITATION OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL: PROF. ANNA NEDYALKOVA, D.SC. WITH AN OPEN LECTURE ON "CIRCULAR ECONOMY"

At the invitation of the Student Council of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", Prof. Anna Nedyalkova, D.Sc.  - Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the University will deliver an open lecture on "Circular Economy" on 20 May 2021 at 5:00 pm. The open lecture of Prof. Nedyalkova is in support of the online competition organised by the Student Council on "Circular economy - Create your own alternative and pass on", dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the university and 25 years from the creation of the Student Council. Students of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" of all specialties can take part in it. The competition aims to draw young people's attention to the idea of ​​the circular economy and environmental protection, as well as to promote the understanding of extending the life cycle of products through reuse, repair or recycling.
The students can participate in the competition individually or in groups (up to three participants) with presentations, models, posters, movies, videos, 3D models, software applications and more. Their projects should focus on the following topics:
● The circular economy in construction and design - use of innovative construction materials, construction waste management - reuse,
● The circular economy in art - avant-garde art, circular models in textile production and fashion,
● The circular economy in law - legal restrictions and incentives, EU taxonomy,
● The circular economy and media - creation of knowledge and behavioural habits in the population,
● The circular economy in the economy - ecological marketing, circular business models, sustainable development, green finance,
● The circular economy in the IT sector - information systems for monitoring and prevention,
● The circular economy in our everyday life - change in psychological attitudes and behaviour, municipal waste management, separate collection and treatment of municipal waste,
● Circular economy and security - ecological security.
 
The deadline for submitting projects is 30 May 2021 to sc@vfu.bg. The presentation of the student works will be held on 03 June 2021, when a jury of specialists in the respective fields and the audience will determine the best projects.
The Student Council of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" will award the best with cash prizes.
Varna Free University has created the first in Bulgaria master's degree programme in Circular Economy supported by the General Directorate "Environment" of the European Commission. The first class of students has already graduated, offering practical solutions to real problems related to environmental protection. Alumni of the programme are experts in the municipal and district administrations in the city. During their training, they had the opportunity to participate in the work of the Parliamentary Committee on Environmental Protection and Water, at the invitation of its chairperson Ivelina Vasileva. The master's degree programme also included placement in a real environment. The training aims to increase administrative capacity in the transition from a linear to a circular economy
