Urban life has to be established as an important part of urban planning, says the latest book by the world-renowned architect, translated into Bulgarian by Assoc. Prof. Arch. Plamen Petrov, PhD - lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar". On 180 pages, Prof.  Jan Gehl and his doctoral student Birgit Svare present the knowledge of human behaviour in an urban environment on an equal footing with the knowledge of buildings and transportation systems.

During his visit to Varna Prof. Arch. Jan Gehl will visit the pedestrian area of the city with lecturers of the Faculty of Architecture and the famous Varna Local historian and architectural heritage researcher Hristiyan Oblakov. The leading Danish architect will get acquainted with the relief map in the Seaside Garden and will meet with its author - the student at Varna Free University Kristiyan Ivanov. The idea of a 3D map with landmarks from the historic core of the park and the Braille texts for visually impaired people originated in the student laboratory "Varna - A City for People", which is held at Varna Free University under the auspices of Prof. Gehl. The project was implemented with the support of the higher education institution and the Culture Fund of Varna Municipality, and the fifth-year student Christiyan Ivanov won the personal student awards of the Municipality of Varna for 2019.
