“The era of the euro will be restored”, said Dr. Peter Harold, Chair of the Board of Directors of HYPO NOE Gruppe, Austria, in his lecture “Provocations in Banking”. Dr. Harold is one of the lecturers in the master class "How to use financial markets to support business and ourselves".
The forum was officially opened on 8th May by the President of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” Prof. DSc Anna Nedyalkova. “I wish all the participants fruitful work and hope that you will gain enough new knowledge and competences”, said Prof. Nedyalkova.
Over 80 participants joined the three-day forum, dedicated to the financial literacy of young people. During this time, business representatives and experts from the USA, Germany and Bulgaria will present topics related to personal finance and investments, successful investing in financial instruments, financial crisis management, corporate finance and business projects funding.
The program for the first day includes the following topics: “Professional finance - introduction” and “Discounting and present value – main instruments” by Prof. Richard MacDonald of St Cloud State University, USA and Prof. George Vredeveld of the University of Cincinnati, USA, and a roundtable discussion on “Financial inclusion of young people. The role of Universities”. The participants in the discussion include representatives of various institutions, among which the World Bank, the Commission for Consumer Protection and the Commission of Public Oversight of Statutory Auditors.The results of a survey into the financial literacy of the students at Varna Free University will be presented.
The master class continues on 9th May with Mr. Martin Paev, owner and CEO of SORTIS INVEST, and his lecture “Fundamentals of corporate finance”. Then Mr. Yavor Achev, CEO of Pioneer Investments, will give a talk on “Personal investment and securing your financial future”.After that Prof. George Vredeveld and Prof. Richard MacDonald will involve the participants in a simulation game, focusing on personal finance. Two virtual sessions on business financing are also included.
The master class finishes on Sunday with a virtual session by Dr. Alper Utku, founder of the European Leadership University, followed by an awarding ceremony of certificates issued by the University of Cincinnati and Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.
