EXHIBITION AND SYMPOSIUM ON WATER GATHERED SCIENTISTS AND ARTISTS AT VFU "CHERNORIZETS HRABAR"
With the opening of an exhibition dedicated to water as an element that connects people, cultures and spaces, an international symposium “Water: Source of Life, Heritage of the Past, Assurance of the Future” began at Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”. The event is being held in partnership with Istanbul Beykent University at the initiative of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Turkish university. The event brings together lecturers, researchers, artists, students and doctoral candidates who examine the topic of water from a multidisciplinary perspective.
Official guests from the Turkish side were Prof. Volkan Yongel , PhD– Rector of Istanbul Beykent University, Prof. Hamdi Ünal – Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Chairman of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Hüsümetin Koçan – Honorary Artist of the Forum, as well as Cem Agelos Justüner from the PINELO Art Gallery – curator of the exhibition.
In his address, Prof. Volkan Yongel thanked for the cordial invitation to hold the symposium and for the excellent organization, emphasising the importance of the academic and cultural exchange between the two.
VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" was represented by Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD - Vice-Rector of the University, Assoc. Prof. Rositsa Petkova-Slipets, PhD - Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, and Assoc. Prof. Kapka Manasieva , PhD- Head of the Department of Arts in the opening and the scientific sessions. In her welcoming address, Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD emphasised that the meeting is the beginning of a long-term partnership between the two universities and expressed confidence that the joint initiatives will develop sustainably in the fields of science, education and art.
The programme includes academic sessions, discussions and meetings of faculty leaderships, during which specific guidelines for future cooperation will be discussed.
By holding the symposium and the accompanying exhibition, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar" strengthens its active international policy and plays the role of a platform for dialogue between education, science and art.
