GRADUATES OF VARNA FREE UNIVERSITY “CHERNORIZETS HRABAR” WERE APPOINTED TO THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM

In early January, new judges and legal trainees began their professional careers in the judicial system. They are graduates of the Faculty of Law of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".

Two new judges – Nadya Slavova and Petko Monev – took office at the District Court – Dobrich, appointed by decisions of the Judicial College of the Supreme Judicial Council. The ceremonies were held before the general assembly of judges, and the President of the Court, Mariana Momcheva, welcomed the new magistrates and wished them success. The two judges will be part of the Civil Department. Nadya Slavova has over 12 years of legal experience, and Petko Monev – seven years of professional experience as a legal advisor, assistant notary and judge. Both are graduates of the Faculty of Law of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”.

The first six legal trainees for 2026 have joined the Varna District Court, three of whom have graduated in Law from Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".
Among the trainees is Gergana Atanasova - winner of the national award "Student of the Year" in the field of "Legal Sciences". During her studies, she actively participated in the academic and student life, took additional qualification courses, joined the Criminalist Club and the Corps of the Attesting Witnesses, and also acquired an additional qualification "Philosophy Teacher".
The legal trainees were welcomed by the President of the District Court - Varna, Judge Tsveta Pavlova, who emphasised the importance of the traineeship as a natural continuation of academic training and an opportunity to work with mentor judges with extensive professional experience. Over the next six months, the trainees will become familiar with the organization and activities of the judiciary, as well as with the practice of the bar and notary.
The entry of the new judges is evidence of the sustainable connection between university education and judicial practice, as well as the high quality of the Law programme at Varna Free University, which prepares lawyers with a high professional culture and readiness for responsible career.
