06 April 2020

The presentation of the book "How to Study Public Life" by the world-renowned architect and urbanist Jan Gehl aroused great interest. The event was held at the Graphite Hotel-Gallery. The book is published in the Bulgarian language by Varna Free University. It is translated by Assoc. Prof. Plamen Petrov, PhD - lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture.

On behalf of the academic management of the University, an address was delivered by the President Assoc. Prof. Krasimir Nedyalkov, PhD. He thanked Prof. Gehl for his active work over the past two years. "This gives us occasion to declare together today that Varna Free University is OUR University," said Assoc. Prof. Nedyalkov.

Prof. Gehl's first visit in October 2017 was initiated by the Faculty of Architecture. They also proposed to confer on him the honorary title of Doctor Honoris Causa. "This was an expression of our desire to acquaint our students with the world achievements of science and practice, to make them followers of leading architectural schools and the latest trends in them. But the most valuable lesson they learned from Prof. Gehl was how to communicate with the environment, what to accept and love in their city, what not to put up with, "added Assoc. Prof. Nedyalkov, PhD.
