“In Love with Europe in 37 Ways” – the literary journey of the editor Elitsa Lukova

21 Април 2026

The debut book “In Love with Europe in 37 Ways” by Elitsa Lukova will be presented on the World Book and Copyright Day in Varna. The premiere will take place on April 23rd at 5:30 pm at the Graphic Art Gallery of the City Art Gallery and will bring together an audience interested in literature and travel. The publication brings together 37 travel essays from different parts of the continent - from Bulgaria and the Balkans to Scandinavia, Central, and Western Europe. Across 240 pages, the book includes 330 original photographs that complement the narratives and create a vivid sense of presence in each location.

Elitsa Lukova is an editor at the publishing house of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”, a member of the Association of Journalists and Travel Writers and the Union of Bulgarian Journalists. She is the author of over 200 publications on tourism and a co-author of several books. For 12 years, she writes the “Leisure and Tourism” column in Kangaroo magazine.

“In an attempt to get to know Europe, I set off on exciting journeys along roads and railway lines, through air corridors and sea routes, along steep mountain trails and lively city streets - but my longest journey always begins in Bulgaria. That is why the first ‘step’ in the book is ‘The Untamed Beauty along the Arda River’ - an article that won the prize of the Ministry of Tourism of Bulgaria in the category ‘Journalistic Material on Tourism in Bulgaria’ during the pandemic year of 2021,” shares the author.

The book combines popular and less-known routes and draws attention to the human stories behind each destination.

“In Love with Europe in 37 Ways” is an invitation to travel - a kind of ticket both to its iconic landmarks and to corners unknown to the mass tourist. From the fiords of Norway and Iceland, through the icy kingdom of the Alpine four-thousanders, to the sun-kissed Mediterranean islands, this book will make you fall in love with each of the many faces of the Old Continent,” says Elitsa Lukova.

The event in Varna offers an opportunity to meet the author and engage in a conversation about travel as an experience that connects cultures and broadens horizons.
