LAW STUDENTS PARTICIPATED IN AN INTERNATIONAL FORUM ON ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND LAW IN ITALY

Law students from Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" participated in a one-week mobility under the Erasmus+ programme at the Mediterranean University of Reggio Calabria, Italy. Alexandar Dukov, Nikol Simeonova, Dobromir Belchev, Mila Boneva, Monika Nikolova, Yoanna Stamenova, Siana Panayotova and Vanesa Ignatova, under the guidance of Sen. Asst.Prof. Neiko Dimitrov, PhD participated in an international conference on the topic "Artificial Intelligence, Law and Ethics - Problems and Challenges".

The forum was organised by the Mediterranean International Centre for Human Rights Studies at the University of Reggio Calabria and brought together students and teachers from Italy, Poland, Turkey and Bulgaria.

During the conference, reports were presented by leading scholars from Italy and Poland, dedicated to the application of artificial intelligence in insurance law, protection of human rights, age discrimination, bank lending and the use of statistical methods in legal practice. Varna Free University was represented by Sen. Asst. Prof. Neiko Dimitrov, PhD with a report on the topic "Application of Artificial Intelligence in the Judicial System - Ethical Issues and Challenges".

Students from the university actively participated in group discussions on the topics discussed and presented their written summaries during a round table discussion dedicated to the future of artificial intelligence in law and society.

The participation of the students from Varna Free University was highly appreciated by the organizers and the international participants. The mobility provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange, familiarization with different academic approaches and creation of new contacts with representatives of the European academic community.

The visit is part of the university's activities to promote international mobility and the inclusion of students in current scientific and professional debates on topics of key importance for the development of modern law.
