Students from the Master's programme in International and Business Project Management of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" participated in a specialised training programe in Brussels. They were led by Prof. Teodora Bakardzhieva, PhD - head of the programme. Within five days, the future project management experts had the opportunity to get acquainted closely with the work of the European institutions and the decision-making process at the European level.
The programme included visits to the Committee of the Regions and the European Economic and Social Committee, where the students learned more about the role of local authorities and civil society in the development of European policies. Particularly useful were the meetings with Bulgarian MEPs Assoc. Prof. Emil Radev and Andrey Novakov, who presented key aspects of the activities of the European Parliament and commented on topics related to security, the budget and the priorities of the European Union.
The students also learned about the initiatives of the European Commission in the field of digitalization, education and career development. At the Permanent Representation of Bulgaria at the EU, they received information about the strategic priorities of our country and the ways in which national interests are defended in European processes. The programme was complemented by visits to the House of European History, the Parlamentarium and a meeting with the Bulgarian Consul in Brussels, which contributed to the understanding of the historical, cultural and practical dimensions of European integration.
The students described the training as a valuable academic and professional experience that combines the theoretical knowledge from the university with practical experience in the heart of Europe. “I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to participate in the training programme in Brussels, which has become a valuable experience for my academic and professional development,” Dunya Pavlovich said. “Participating in this programme gave me the opportunity to get to know the functioning of the European Union closely and strengthened my interest in international cooperation,” Ivan Kirkov added. “The internship was organised at an extremely high level and provided a unique opportunity for personal contact with key European institutions and representatives,” Ivan Georgiev noted.
