MASTERCLASS BRINGS TOGETHER JOURNALISTS AND FUTURE COMMUNICATORS

30 May 2026

The 18th master class on The Art of Communication this year was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the establishment of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar". The masterclass is organised by the master programmes in Advertising and Public Relations in Business Management and Cultural Tourism Management.

The university's graduates - Marieta Bobeva, director of the Regional TV Centre - Varna, Petar Doyinski and Deyan Mihaylov - reporters at BNT, as well as the speech therapist at Radio Varna Asya Stefanova - participated in it as lecturers.

The masterclass was opened by Assoc. Prof. Eleonora Tankova, PhD - Vice-Rector of the University for Institutional Cooperation and Development.

The first part of the event was held in the form of a discussion. Marieta Bobeva spoke fascinatingly about the secrets of influencing society through television, about critical attitude towards information, about objectivity, credibility and content. She presented to the participants useful information about behaviour in front of a television camera, verbal and non-verbal behaviour, about the necessary preparation for participation in a television programme. She introduced her two colleagues, reporters from her team, as "field magicians" who love their work.

Petar Doykinski and Deyan Mihaylov gave many examples from their daily journalistic life and professional experience. They told how artificial intelligence enters and helps the journalistic team work with large files and facilitates their decoding. The examples of manipulations in television messages, building sustainability in viewer interest and reliable sources of information were interesting. At the end of the discussion, Marieta Bobeva invited the participants to visit the television centre in the city of Varna.

The second part of the event was conducted by Asya Stefanova in the form of a training course Standard pronunciation and stylistic effects of the voice. The participants had the opportunity to present themselves in front of a microphone in the training radio studio. Everyone received practical advice on exercises related to improving speech parameters, articulation, diction, mastery of the vocal cords and other detailed information necessary for synchronising and improving speech in front of an audience.
