09 Април 2020
The second stage in the defense of the diploma projects of the students from the Master's degree programme in "Circular Economy" of Varna Free University is being prepared. The Master's theses are expected with great interest, provoked by the high value of the solutions offered during the first session in the field of circular economy in November last year. "Models and concepts of high scientific and applied value were shown. The developments have shown that the concept of circular economy provides us with tools to support ecosystems and puts consumption in unison with terrestrial regenerative capacity," commented Prof. Emil Panushev - Head of the Master's degree programme.

The master's students offered solutions related to the development of new technologies and the promotion of ecological innovation to solve the problem with waste. The implementation of EU funding schemes can be used to implement projects aimed at protecting the environment and solving environmental problems across municipalities and regions. Intelligent design, enabling products to be repaired, reused, recycled and recycled, contributes to reducing public costs and increasing the efficiency of the economy.
The first class of students started their education at the initiative of the Varna Municipal Council and experts from the municipal and district administrations in the city, directly related to environmental protection, enrolled in the Master's degree programme. Some of the students had the opportunity to take part in the work of the Parliamentary Committee for the Protection of Environment and Water, at the invitation of its Chairperson Ivelina Vasileva. The programme is supported by the Directorate-General for the Environment of the European Commission and its Honorary Director George Kremlis is part of the professors included in the training. The Master's degree programme also covered practice in authentic environment.
The training aims at increasing the administrative capacity in the transition from linear to circular economy. The programme combines the efforts of academia, business and local authorities to train professionals ready to meet the goals of the European Green Pact, to propose efficient use of resources and to build a green and competitive low carbon economy.
