The first meeting of the Forensic Investigator Club for the new academic year was held in the Maxima Hall of Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar”. Nearly 40 new members joined the organization – students from various majors, united by their interest in forensics, investigation and law enforcement.
During the event, the leadership of the Forensic Investigator Club and the main directions of its activities were presented. The chairman of the club is Alex Marinov, and the deputy chairman is Nedyalko Kolev, a fifth-year student majoring in Law. The club will be part of the structure of the Student Council of Varna Free University and will develop active activities in partnership with other student organizations.
Under the guidance of Prof. Yonko Kunchev, PhD the club continues its tradition of being a centre for student initiatives and practical training in the field of criminology.
A special guest at the meeting was Dimitar Nikiforov – a long-time investigative officer and operative, former head of the group for detecting crimes against the person. He shared his professional experience and inspired the students.
Established in 2021 at the initiative of students of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", the Criminologist Science Club already has an established place in the academic community. In 2022, the creation of a Corps of Witnesses was initiated, and the regional directorates of the Ministry of Interior were provided with a list of trained student volunteers ready to participate in procedural and investigative actions. Under the guidance of Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc. the club developed a "Handbook of Witnesses" - a publication that presents the rights and obligations of participants, as well as the basic procedural rules when conducting investigative actions.
