Nearly 50 scientific papers were presented at the international conference ArCivE'2025 and the Student Scientific Session at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar"

The twelfth edition of the International Scientific Conference on Architecture and Construction ArCivE’2025, which was held on May 31st, 2025 at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" stood out with its rich scientific programme and international participation.

The conference, which has established itself as an emblematic event of the Faculty of Architecture at Varna University "Chernorizets Hrabar", brought together nearly 50 participants - scientists, lecturers, doctoral and university students from Bulgaria and abroad. Over 30 scientific papers were presented within the forum, covering topics in architecture, construction and fire safety.

The plenary speeches of established scientists from world universities made a particularly strong impression. Among them were Prof. Dr. Eng. Bozhidar Yanev from Columbia University, Prof. Sonya Hurt from the University of Georgia (USA). One of the plenary speeches of the conference was delivered by Prof. Dr. Eng. Mihaela Kuteva-Gencheva from the University of Architecture, Civil Engineering and Geodesy in Sofia. It focused on building information modeling. The forum programme also included topics related to urbanism, the preservation of architectural heritage, new trends in design and planning, as well as construction. The conference was officially opened by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Varna Free University, Prof. Dimitar Kanev. The guests were also greeted by the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at the university, Assoc. Prof. Rositsa Petkova-Slipets.

Among the main highlights of the scientific programme were the topics of preservation of architectural heritage, modern trends in architectural design and planning, as well as new methods in construction and fire engineering.

For the first time, the conference also included a poster session, within which 13 posters were presented, expanding the discussion platform for the exchange of ideas and results.

Parallel to ArCivE’2025, the student scientific conference “Space Future. Innovations in All Aspects of Science” was held, organized by the Student Council at Varna Free University. Ten reports, presented by students from VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar”, Medical University – Varna and N. Y. Vaptsarov Naval Academy, examined current topics such as robotics, artificial intelligence, space tourism and ethical aspects of space research.

The aim of this parallel initiative was to encourage young researchers and provide a stage for innovative ideas that will shape the future of science and technology.
