05 August 2026
The University Press of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" has published the collective monograph "Bulgaria's Foreign Economic Relations in the Conditions of Global Uncertainty". The study is dedicated to the dynamically changing European and global environment and its impact on international trade, investments and finance.

The authors of the monograph are Prof. Emil Panushev, PhD, Assoc. Prof. Virginia Ivanova, PhD and Assoc. Prof. Nikolina Grozeva, PhD - lecturers at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", as well as Prof. Tatyana Hubenova, PhD, Prof. Iskra Balkanska, PhD and Assoc. Prof. Eduard Marinov, D.Sc. - researchers from the Institute for Economic Research at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences.

The relevance of the publication is related to the significant changes in the multilateral trading system, the deepening geopolitical fragmentation and the structural transformations in the world economy. The authors examine the functioning of the Bulgarian economy in the context of its participation in the single market of the European Union and the implementation of the strategy of "strategic autonomy".

The monograph analyses the changing patterns of global trade, the formation of new regional trade centers and the main trends in the international trade of Bulgaria. Special attention is paid to the opportunities for building sustainable competitive advantages and for developing the country's foreign economic relations.

The study outlines significant problems facing Bulgaria's foreign economic activity and assesses the risks arising from geopolitical uncertainty and the difficulties in overcoming the European Union's structural dependencies on third countries. On this basis, the authors propose strategic actions consistent with the new realities of the world economy.

The main ideas and research positions presented in the monograph were discussed within the framework of the annual international scientific conference Economic Transformations in the Global World, organised by the Faculty of Social, Economic and Legal Sciences of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar".

The publication offers in-depth analyses and ideas for researchers, lecturers, doctoral candidates and students, as well as for specialists interested in the international economy and the foreign economic policy of Bulgaria.
