
Polina Galinova, a graduate of Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar", ranked second and won a silver medal in the 30th edition of the Kickboxing World Cup, which took place these days in Budapest, Hungary. In the women's category, K-1 style, up to 56 kg, she showed excellent technical and tactical skills. In the quarter-final, she defeated the German athlete, in the semi-final she prevailed over the representative of Ukraine, and in the final fight she lost to Israel. Now Polina Galinova is among the best athletes in the world in her category and once again confirmed her reputation as an exceptional fighter and skilled athlete.
Polina has been part of the Bulgarian national kickboxing team since 2016. She competes for the 'Shumenska Krepost' sports club, where she trains under the guidance of her father - the honored coach Galin Metodiev. In her sports career, she is a two-time world champion for juniors and cadets, Balkan vice-champion, Bulgarian champion in the 'low kick' style, silver medalist at the World Championship in Portugal in 2023, as well as winner of the European Cup in Plovdiv in 2024. In the same year, she also won two gold medals at the National Universiade - in the styles 'light contact' and 'kick light'. At the World Cup in Budapest in 2024, Polina also won a gold medal.
In addition to her exceptional sporting achievements, Polina Galinova also has an excellent academic training. She graduated from Varna Free University with a degree in Psychology, successfully combining her studies with an active sports career. The experience she has gained in the field of psychology helps her not only in analyzing the behaviour of her rivals in the ring, but also in preparing the young competitors with whom she works as an assistant coach in her club.
Her success in Budapest is a source of pride not only for sports in Bulgaria, but also for the academic community of Varna Free University, to which Poli always remains faithful!
