The President of the European University Association Prof. Maria Helena Nazare visited Varna Free University. She met the university’s President Prof. D.Sc. Anna Nedyalkova and representatives of the academic management. Prof. Nazare arrived together with Andrea-Rosalinde Hofer – an economist from the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. (OECD).
Varna Free University “Chernorizets Hrabar” is among the first Bulgarian universities to join the European University Association at the time of its foundation in 2001.
Members of the association include 850 universities from 47 countries. This is the biggest and most influential university organization in Europe. Over 17 million students are trained in the programmes of the member universities. The organization provides a wide range of opportunities for exchange of good practices, participation in joint projects and development of European educational and research policies.
During the meeting Varna Free University presented its initiatives and projects in the field of entrepreneurship.
Special emphasis was placed on the International Academy “Knowledge and Innovation”. The Academy unites the potential of international educational institutions, research centres and various companies, for the purpose of shaping the managers of tomorrow. The 2014 Academy is dedicated to the theme of Entrepreneurship and Successful Academic Practices.
Among the latest initiatives of the university is the master class Business Leadership and Entrepreneurship. Good Joint Practices with the University of Cincinnati, which was a great success. The unconventional idea to put students and business representatives together as participants in the master class created a wide platform for exchange of ideas and successful practices in the field of business leadership and entrepreneurship.
Another successful project presented at the meeting was the joint project of VFU “Chernorizets Hrabar” and Coventry University on transfer of innovation in the area of entrepreneurship and digital competences. Held in March 2014, the first seminars of the Digital Entrepreneurship master class enjoyed great interest, and gathered together 150 students and lecturers.
The President of the European University Association Prof. Maria Helena Nazare expressed her satisfaction with the meeting and shared her excellent impressions of the university’s achievements on an international level. She invited the President and the academic management to take part in a working meeting within the framework of the Entrepreneurial Universities project, which will be held in September in Sofia.
