PROF. YONKO KUNCHEV, D. SC. IN AN INTERVIEW WITH THE TRUD NEWSPAPER: FORENSIC SCIENCE TO BECOME MANDATORY, NOT ELECTIVE DISCIPLINE IN THE TRAINING OF FUTURE LAWYERS

05 April 2021
The course for profilers at Varna Free University "Chernorizets Hrabar" aroused great interest among working experts and students. What qualities candidates for detective inspectors and investigating officers should have, why criminals sometimes go unpunished and their actions unproven, whether new technologies enter the work of native criminologists? See the interview of Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc., course leader and Dean of the Faculty of Law at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", with the journalist Daniela Farhi, published in the Trud newspaper.
The courses in Profiling of Unknown Perpetrators of Crimes and Forensic Studies, led by Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc. were attended by over 160 people - representatives of various spheres of public life - psychologists, lawyers, pedagogues, security experts, representatives of state and municipal structures and students in various specialties at VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", as well as students at other universities. The young profilers, inspired by what they learned, united around the idea of continuing to communicate with each other in the Forensic Criminologist Club. The community created at the university is already considering joint projects about which we will learn soon.
Here are the opinions of some of the participants in the training:
Dayana Miteva, Master of Laws:
Unique training! During my Law studies at Varna Free University, one of the most interesting subjects was Forensics, as Professor Kunchev taught us a theory supported by many interesting examples from real practice. That is why I joined the course Profiling of Unknown Perpetrators of Crimes. I saw that soon there will be two more courses - Methodology of Handwriting and Author’s Expertise and Methodology of Psychological Expertise, which I also plan to attend.

Yoanna Ninova, Law student, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar":
The training was very interesting and useful. I gained a lot of new knowledge that will be very useful to me. Thank you so much. I hope there are many more such courses.

Zornitsa Contaldo, Psychology student, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", Germany:
I'm joining from Munich. I loved it! It is very likely that I will continue with training related to the topic!

Nora Boncheva, Psychology student, University of Plovdiv "Paisiy Hilendarski" and Digital Marketing, SoftUni:

Stoyan Stoyanov, civil servant, Varna:
The course is extremely intriguing and enriching for me. The examples from the practice of Prof. Kunchev give perspective to real cases in which practice and theory overlap.

Tanya Hristova, alumna of VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar", Kotel:
Extremely rich information, presented in a meaningful and appropriate way. Professor Kunchev presents examples from practice comprehensibly and shares experience that is extremely valuable for us. In summary - the course is extremely useful, interesting and inspiring. Thanks for the opportunity to be a part of it! I believe that this is a good preparation for everyone with an interest in criminal psychology and forensic science :) I will be happy to keep watching for the next opportunities and participate in them! Special thanks to Asst. Prof. Angelova for the overall organization, individual connection with the participants and assistance! It is a pleasure to work with professionals like you! I wish good luck and satisfaction!

Petya Subeva, student at the GS Rakovski Military Academy, Samokov:
I am extremely satisfied with the course. I am not a specialist and it was a challenge for me to profile an unknown perpetrator. I have encountered a number of interesting cases in my job in hospital and I would like to clarify a lot of questions for myself.  My main professional area is Kinesitherapy for Nervous and Mental Diseases. The course gave me the opportunity to step out of the "comfort zone" and set myself the goal of thinking more deeply about a problem, regardless of its nature. I really liked the idea of creating a group. Thank you again for the opportunity to participate.

Milena Mareva, Psychology student, VFU "Chernorizets Hrabar":
Perfectly organized and conducted course! Careful, accurate and kind assistance from the organizer of the event Aleksandra Aleksandrova. I was amazed and very impressed by the high level of professionalism of the developed topics and the academic nature of the lectures delivered by Prof. Yonko Kunchev, D.Sc.

Yana Haralanova, journalist, Sofia:
I was satisfied!

Lyuba Zheleva, economist, Primorsko:
Extremely well-organized and conducted lecture course - both in terms of information and advertising, and in terms of the conducting itself. Prof. Kunchev's professionalism, knowledge and experience, as well as the way he presents the individual cases, are extremely contagious.
